Where to catch salmon in Colombia
If there is a fish that is characterized by the struggle for the continuity of its species, it is the wild salmon. With a strength unreachable by a human, it returns to its birthplace to lay eggs and die. An unalterable life cycle that forces it to go up a river with intense effort and face predators and natural impediments. These fish that are anadromous, that is, born in fresh water, migrate to the sea to live as adults and, upon reaching reproductive maturity, return to their starting point guided by their odorous memory.Unlike other species that have similar behavior patterns, salmon are characterized by being endowed with exceptional power and endurance. Their feat, on a human scale, would be equivalent to running a 100-mile marathon.
Closest existing wild salmon types and their seasonality:In the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea, we find the Atlantic Salmon (salmo salar), an endangered species that, in its wild state, is not fished for commercial use.In the Pacific Ocean:

It has dorsal and anal fins as well as soft rays. We can know the age of each specimen because they have growth rings. It has a prominent and crimped jaw. This species is very elusive, swimming upstream at up to 6.5 km/h and making jumps of almost four meters.
Beyond finding them in Alaska or Norway, where practically anyone would be able to tell you that there are salmon, we enjoy, in our own country, some interesting areas, such as Asturias or Vizcaya.
Knowing this, we can only indicate which are the best places, in our country, where we can find pieces of salmon. Asturias is a famous community for salmon fishing. There is even a concept, “el campanu”, which refers to the first specimen caught at the beginning of the season. The phenomenon has been spreading and we also find it, although less known, in Galicia, Basque Country or Cantabria.
The Ulla river does allow fishing with death, in season, with a maximum that is established annually. The reserves of A Estrada and Ximonde are really beautiful and in them you will find much more than salmon. In Cantabria, the Miera, the Asón and the Puente Viesgo salmon preserve, where the Pas river is located, stand out.

Salmon, like trout, are shy and skittish. When alarmed, they move very quickly in the water, and go a great distance without stopping. Therefore, you have to be very cautious when fishing, and it requires skill and perseverance.
Choose cloudy days – Salmon prefer low light conditions, which makes a dark day more successful for salmon fishing than other days. In addition to cloudy days, dawn and dusk provide optimal light conditions for salmon. You can still catch salmon on sunny days, but they will be in deeper water and a little less active.

-We know there is a problem and that measures can be taken, but forecasting is difficult. On the west coast of the United States it is estimated that in 2100 salmon populations will survive only in certain areas with less urban and human impact, but the forecast will depend on the big question, which is climate change. There will be many factors that cannot be managed at the basin level. The productive cycle of the ocean is in the hands of the big global climate issues and, if you change fish mortality in the ocean, if something changes in open ocean productivity, we can’t forecast what will happen.
-There is no single cause. When you study the decline in fish abundance and relate it to different environmental factors, there is one death by a thousand razor blades. It’s not one stab that kills you, it’s a thousand. For certain interest groups, this situation has an advantage because some of those stab wounds are attributed to the enemy and vice versa, and so they pass the buck without taking the problem as a sum of many things.
