The legendary Captain Bart Miller and a U.S. television production crew visited El Salvador on May 26, 2006 to film three episodes of “The Bite TV” satellite sportfishing show in our productive waters.

Captain Miller is a world-renowned big game fisherman who has dedicated most of his life to hunting giant marlin and is the captain who has sportfished the second largest Pacific blue marlin in history at 1,665 pounds.

The group of six, led by Captain Miller, flew to El Salvador courtesy of Grupo Taca on Thursday, May 25; traveling with him was a crew from “The Bite TV” consisting of show host Captain Matt Tambor, producer Scott “Scoot” Shane, director A.J. Willis, underwater photographer Tony Ludovico and deckhand J.J. Logan.

To give you an idea of the amount of gear that was brought along, the luggage compartment of Robbie’s Mitsubishi Montero and my GMC Yukon (without the third row of seats) was filled to capacity and they even had to carry some of the cameras on their legs.

Excavations on Saddle Island soil off Red Bay found artifacts related to the early whaling industry, including a harpoon head shaped like an arrowhead.

I was watching to see where he kept his razor, when lo and behold, he picks up the harpoon from the bedside corner, slips out of the long wooden stock, unsheathes the head, wakes up a bit from his start, and walking over to the piece of mirror on the wall, begins a vigorous scraping, or rather harpooning of his cheeks.

As on Saturday, I went out for the denton, with the normal for my area disastrous result, and passing and reviewing at low speed by the vicinity of the coast the usual sites, that in times there was, my boss got bored (she likes to sail), therefore, on Sunday, we went out again, for a walk that in my particular terminology I call “for the imperial”, which as many other times just, in new club, but happy for the day of enjoyment at sea.

I remembered this post, and I will tell you more or less what we did, equipment, etc., the truth is that I have only caught 3 imperial needles in all my life, 1 not long ago -about three months- that weighed less than 5 KG and I released it.

THE BEST TIMES TO FISH FOR THEM IN MY AREA ARE JUNE AND THE BEGINNING OF JULY, AND THEN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER, AND IF THERE HAS BEEN AN ENTRY OF FISH, THAT IS, WE HAVE ANCHOVIES, SARDINES, ALACHAS, THEN WE WILL ALSO HAVE MACKEREL, FRIGATE TUNA, BONITO, ETC. AND FOR SURE IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEE HERDS OF DOLPHINS. SO YOU CAN BE SURE THAT EVEN IF YOU DON’T SEE THEM, THERE WILL ALSO BE NEEDLES AND SWORDS.

The tribe Thunnini is a monophyletic clade comprising 15 species in five genera. The cladogram is a tool for visualizing and comparing evolutionary relationships among taxa, and is read from left to right as on a timeline. The following cladogram illustrates the relationship between tunas and other tribes in the family Scombridae. For example, the cladogram illustrates that skipjack tunas are more closely related to true tunas than slender tunas (the most primitive of the tunas), and that the closest close relatives of tunas are the bonito of the tribe Sardini.

In some unstable fisheries, such as Patagonian toothfish, fishermen may be limited to as few as 25 hooks per line. In contrast, commercial longliners in certain robust fisheries of the Bering Sea and North Pacific generally run more than 2,500 hand-baited hooks on a single series of connected lines many miles long.
