What does Dec mean in education?

Just as philosophy is said to be the mother of all sciences, we could say that pedagogy is the mother of all sciences and disciplines of education. In fact, we would not be defining it badly if we were to say that it is very much like a philosophy – or a kind of political philosophy – of education. To do pedagogy is, no more and no less, to go through a series of reflections on education, and especially on the education that takes place within schools. Pedagogy is, moreover, a discipline that recognizes deep and complex problems in everyday things. Now, after having said that pedagogy is to reflect on education, perhaps the most appropriate thing to say now would be to say something about what kind of reflection pedagogy proposes and also to say something about education, and about education in schools.

Pedagogical reflection can be thought of on the basis of a few fairly simple questions, but which require a long journey and a great deal of effort to be answered, or even rigorously formulated. Exploring these questions and discovering how they help us to open up new ways of thinking about daily life as teachers is the main mission of pedagogy in these times. If we are committed to examining these reflections, this will allow us to get to know the theoretical and ideological map of contemporary education a little better, and we can feel more confident in what we do and think. When we have a book in our hands, for example, or when we listen to someone talking about education, we will surely have better tools to build an opinion or understand what may be behind each idea, argument, approach. Studying Pedagogy is useful to have well-founded opinions about the problems of education. It is useful to read the newspaper and understand what is said there about teachers and schools, and also what is not said. It is useful to better understand the meaning of didactic proposals.

Dec québec

In Canada, when you are very good at a subject and you are “over-achieving”, they offer you the possibility of taking the same subject in a higher course. For example, if you are doing grade 10 mathematics and you see that you are outperforming the rest of the students in the class, if the teachers consider it feasible, you can ask the school to move up to grade 11 mathematics.

Studying in Canada provides students with enormous diversity and varied educational options. The block organization and the educational options make students think about what they like and try to motivate them to know themselves better.
