There are numerous ways to receive weather alerts, including local broadcast media, radio, smartphones, websites and in person. But how will you receive hazardous weather information in the event of a power or phone service outage? Every second matters during an emergency, and NOAA Weather Radio is one of the most reliable ways to stay informed during hazardous weather events.

NOAA recognizes the challenges that deaf and hard-of-hearing people have regarding NOAA Weather Radio. To help mitigate some of these challenges, many assistive devices can be attached to the radio, such as strobe lights or pillow and bed shakers. These attachments can include colored warning lights to indicate the level of alert (Communicated, Watch or Warning), and an LCD display indicating specific warnings such as “Tornado Warning” or “Severe Storm Warning.”    The Weather Radio allows you to program your location to avoid receiving alerts for other locations. The radio is also battery operated and portable, making it reliable in times of power outages or during evacuations.

Good morning dear readers, today after a forced rest due to the eye surgery I underwent, I am back to bring you a detailed article about one of the bands that I recently got to know thanks to the purchase of a new radio that incorporates it together with its native civilian band (the radio I am talking about is a Cobra 18 WX ST II, an excellent radio to mount on the dashboard as if it were a car stereo since it has the horn and the microphone connector at the front, being in a way “semi dual band”). The band I am referring to is the NOAA radio band.

Its main mission is to focus on ocean and atmospheric conditions in a particular way. In this way, NOAA provides weather forecasts and sea charts; it regularly provides guidance on the use and protection of ocean and coastal resources, conducting studies to improve understanding and management of the environment.

It is staffed by civilian personnel, researching and operating in addition to 300 uniformed NOAA Corps servicemen. The Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere at the U.S. Department of Commerce, retired Vice Admiral Conrad C. Lautenbacher, is the administrator of the NOAA Corps. Lautenbacher, is NOAA’s current administrator.

What does the acronym noaa stand for

The NOAA-NNOAA satellite The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration launched the first of a series of NOAA satellites into orbit in 1970. These satellites follow heliosynchronous orbits about 850 km above the Earth and scan the entire planet in twenty-four hours.

The most modern NOAA satellites are equipped with advanced very high resolution radiometers (AVHRR) that scan in five channels. The AVHRR scanner can map vegetation and cloud formation, as well as measure the temperature and humidity of the atmosphere and the Earth.

Since NOAA is equipped with visible and near-infrared channels, it can also be used for large-scale vegetation mapping. The daily transects are taken at the same local time, so cloud-free images based on several days’ detections can be integrated as a mosaic.

National Oceanic Administration Office

Formed on October 3, 1970, “NOAA” was formed from a conglomeration of three pre-existing agencies, among the oldest in the federal government. They were: Coast and Geodetic Survey, 1807, National Weather Service, 1870, Bureau of Commercial Fisheries, 1871.

The NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) family of satellites, also called TIROS, began with the launch of 10 satellites. Since then, many satellites have been launched until the launching of NOAA-K satellites up to NOAA-N during the period 1996-2004. For the period 2005-2011, NOAA-O to NOAA-Q, the first of a new generation of polar weather satellites, are scheduled to be launched.

== The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a scientific agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce whose activities focus on ocean and atmospheric conditions. NOAA advises on weather, prepares ocean and sky charts, provides guidance on the use and protection of ocean and coastal resources, and conducts studies to improve understanding and management of the environment. In addition to its civilian staff, NOAA researches and operates with 300 uniformed NOAA Corps servicemen.
